Word of Mouth Tells of Service Excellence
After listening to a couple of co-workers talk about their husbands who had strokes in their 40s, Barrie decided
that it was time she and husband, Bob, have a stroke screening too. Already Years Ahead Plus+ members,
she saw in the newspaper that they were offering screenings at a local recreation center. They both had a Doppler
ultrasound to gauge blood flow in the ankles, abdomen and neck areas.
While Barrie’s results were good, Bob’s initial results were cause for concern. Bob, 69, had significant blockage in
his main artery – a 70 percent blockage. An angiogram was performed, and the diagnosis became clear — 95 percent
blockage in the left carotid artery. Dr. Bruce Rank, cardiovascular surgeon, performed a two-hour surgery to clear
Bob’s artery of calcium and plaque. According to Barrie, Bob has recovered beautifully.
Now, Bob is back to being active, and has modified his diet to be healthier. Now, they spread the word about the
importance of having a stroke screening and the quality care they were given by Grandview physicians and employees.
Today, Bob and Bari are telling others about the importance of getting screened, and they cannot say enough about the
care and service they were given by the Grandview team. "We really had excellent care," Bob says.
